The Local reports that a Swedish food magazine had a typo in one of their recipies that led to food poisoning of four people. Now, when I read the headline I thought ‘Wow, that’s terrible. What kind of dangerous ingrediants are they playing with?’ And then I read this:
“Instead of calling for two pinches of nutmeg it said 20 nutmeg nuts were needed…”
I now think perhaps the story doesn’t have the right focus. Instead of ‘Swedish magazine’s recipe mistake poisons four’ I think maybe the headline should be ‘Four boneheads try to cook and poison themselves’. I mean, seriously, who in their right mind would think that 20 nutmegs in a recipe was appropriate?
And also, don’t think I’m one of those radical anti-nutmeg types. I love nutmeg. Some of my best friends are made of nutmeg. I don’t think I’d eat 20 nutmeg nuts in a row but hey, it’s my favorite garnish for a good glass of eggnog.
Crazy Swedes…
