Iranian military humor!

I saw this while catching the tail end of Christiane Amanpour‘s TV show…just brilliant.

Genocide – Worse than war…

Just watched the film “Worse than War” which is a documentary based on the work of Daniel Jonah Goldhagen.  I remark on it because of his discussion of the genocide in Rwanda and an interview he had with Madeline Albright.  She had the nerve to say that the reason the international community generally and the U.S. specifically didn’t intervene was because there was a lot going on at the time and that no one really understood this Hutu/Tutsi thing.

And that, my friends, is a bunch of disingenuous shit.

Rwanda had been colonized by Europeans for more than half a century and had exploited the ethnic differences throughout that period.  There were plenty of people who knew quite well the ethnic history of Rwanda.

Further, the UN was warned very early about the potential for genocide by General Dallaire.  The fact is, the U.S. (and other Western nations) went out of there way to stymie attempts to intervene and fought tooth and nail from even calling the events in Rwanda a genocide until the killing had just about burnt itself out (and Paul Kagame‘s forces had crushed the Hutu dominated Rwandan army).

You can spin but you can’t hide…
